Did this ride in December in reverse. The descent will be down wawawaii grade on pavement. climb 2000ft on dirt. Route can be modified in a few spots.

I can provide a seat from the south hill to the Trading Post, and down to Colton if needed.

Fat rubber enabled!

OK, 2000 feet of non-stop climbing is too good to resist. I'm onboard (thanks Eric for a ride down) and will be running the "Midnight Century Special" configuration, minus the light systems

Traffic cam shows snow on the road in uniontown now. 50% chance of snow in Colton. I'm not going.

Well it turned into an interesting day:

Started out as a typical SRV ride:

Some gravel roads, no problem:

It got interesting when the road came to an end...

Jerry and Eric doing the hike-a-bike.

Chris "I could ride this on my mountain bike" Stein looking over the bluff:

Janusz getting better at his off road riding!

Everyone made it back together and I was fun to do some exploring.

Back in the 70's there were these guys in Norther California who invented bikes for this purpose. They call them mountain bikes today. Just say'in. Creative rides are always cool though.

That was...fun. I learned that Speedplays and ice don't work well together, that I should think about a stickier chain lube before doing a route like this, and that having friends along to share the muck, ice, and wind made it worthwhile.

Chad's right though. Having at least a 'cross bike would have made the travel a bit easier.

Mike- thanks for posting the pics!
