|Mount Spokane Hill Climb and MS Fundraiser|
Sunday, August 25, 2013
Description: Starting at Mitcham's Barn, racers will climb the next 10 miles as the grade steepens from 5% to 15%, climbing over 3,500 vertical feet, and then finishing at the summit of Mount Spokane. Following the race there will be an all-team BBQ at Mitcham's Barn.
$5.00 from each entry will be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Details about the BBQ: All riders, families, friends, and sponsors are invited to the BBQ. The BBQ should start at about 11 a.m. Spokane Rocket Velo will be providing side dishes for everyone and use of their grills.
*Category scored separately but racing in combined field. Masters 40+ and 50+ fields are open only to USA Cycling Category 1-4 racers. Category 5 racers (new racers) must race in the Cat 4/5 field with the exception of riders age 60 or above; they are welcome to race in the Masters 60+ field. Read more about this change here! For more information about categories, classes, and upgrades, please consult the USA Cycling Rule Book.
Five riders make a field! Fields with less than five riders may be cancelled or combined with another field. Prizes and money for fields with less than five riders will not be awarded. Fields that race together will still be scored separately.
Driving Directions: Parking may be limited! Please carpool when possible. Also all motor vehicles entering the state park must have a Discovery Pass. You do not need a pass to park at the staging area. From Highway 2/Newport Highway, turn east onto Route 206/Mount Spokane Park Drive. Follow 206 for 12 miles. Parking, registration, and staging is at Mitcham's Barn, located on the right side of Mount Spokane Park Drive. Google map.
Entrance Fee: $25, with $5 from this entry fee is being donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. (Includes post-race party, all sales tax, USAC insurance charges, online registration fees, officials' pay, bribing volunteers with t-shirts and coffee, etc. Now that's a heck of a bargain, ain't it?) Entrance fee waived if racer provides two volunteers while active racers who volunteer receive two points toward the series. Click here for more info.
The Fine Print:
